Use paper tape
In terms of environmental impact, paper tape is generally considered better than plastic tape. Here are some reasons why:
- Biodegradability: Paper tape is biodegradable, meaning it breaks down naturally over time and does not contribute to the buildup of non-biodegradable waste in landfills. Plastic tape, on the other hand, can take hundreds of years to break down.
- Recyclability: Paper tape is often made from recycled materials and can itself be recycled, reducing the demand for new resources. Plastic tape, on the other hand, is usually not recyclable and often ends up in landfills or as litter.
- Chemicals: The production of plastic tape can involve the use of harmful chemicals, such as PVC or BPA. Paper tape is generally made without these chemicals and is therefore safer for the environment and human health.
- Strength: While plastic tape may be stronger than paper tape, paper tape is still strong enough for many applications and can be a good alternative for lightweight or non-critical packaging.
